FANTASY FITBA: OFFICIAL STATEMENT

We’ve been getting questions aplenty asking whether we’ll be returning for the 2019/20 season.

Regrettably, the answer is no.

Over 2018/19 it became more and more difficult to commit time to maintain the game we had, let alone create something better. We also sensed that the demand for a Scottish fantasy football game – while there – may not be as high as we expected and would struggle to justify a fundraising/crowdfunding effort to raise the five-figure sums we were quoted to have a fully-functioning game developed.

With that, and the appearance of what seems to be the kind of game we wanted to create anyway, we’ve decided not to continue.

When we started this project in 2017 as a simple game for friends, family and colleagues we didn’t anticipate how far it would go. We’re quite proud to say that we operated Scotland’s top fantasy football game in that time.

But enough about us. Thanks are in order, to everyone who played the game, promoted it or connected with it in any way. We had around 1,500 entries over the two seasons and that’s what made it worthwhile.

We hope you enjoyed it, and enjoy the upcoming SPFL season, whoever you follow. Actually, now we’ve come to an end, there’s no need for the diplomacy. Aberdeen. Just Aberdeen.

Finally, in seriousness, thanks again.

Chris and Ross
